Film 1

Wow.  That's all I can say.  This short film is pure poetry.  I actually came to it via Film 2... the follow-up video.  The second one is good, but this was just stunning.  It's actually a brilliant promo for a new fashion line by Swedish designer Johan Lindeberg.  He teamed with director Martin de Thurah... who was behind James Blake's "Limit to Your Love" video (among others). Lindeberg had just gotten out of a breakup and wanted to create something that touched on relationships.  De Thurah came up with the idea.  "I wanted to make a film where I pushed my language in a different direction. To work with words in a different way, to sample old love-letters and sentences I found, mix it all up, and then build a very open narrative, a little bit like a song, where I could point the camera in a new direction and follow where it was pointing. The film turned out quite like I wrote it."  As for the end scene, he wanted to portray "a feeling of them walking heavily, looking at each other – looking at each other in a different form or tone – like demons, animals. You go through different faces in times of crisis."  The film also displays a real, gritty sense of New York... the city Lindeberg now calls home.  Wonderful.
