Back to School
I have a new addiction... school. Hey! Get back here, you pervs! Let me explain. How many of us wish we had gone to Yale or Harvard? Ok, actually... I wanted to go to the University of the Virgin Islands... but I hated Chicago winters. You know what I mean, though. Imagine having received a true Ivy League education. Beyond that... don't you just want to learn new things? I do... which is why I'm thrilled that colleges are starting to videotape their lectures and post them to YouTube and iTunes. You may not get an actual degree, but it's worth your time.
The one that got me hooked was Professor Joanne Freeman's course on the American Revolution. Don't you roll your eyes at me. Oh my god that's rude. I'm trying to help you here. Ok... 25 lectures... each about an hour. She's one of the good ones. Remember that teacher you had that made class interesting? That's her. I'm not kidding. I actually sat through all 25 lectures. Fascinating stuff. She makes it fun and speaks in plain English.
Now... you could kick back and watch Dancing with the Stars, sure... or you could grow your brain. Experience a few epiphanies. Yale, alone, has TONS of courses online. All free. Not every professor is a Joanne Freeman, but keep looking. This is a tremendous opportunity.
