Grilled Asparagus with Asian Marinade

Not my recipe, but it's damn good. I have tweaked it a bit, though.
- Asparagus
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Garlic salt/cracked black pepper
Wash the asparagus, cut off about 2 1/2" from the bottoms (the tips are the best part!) and place in a large zip lock bag. Whisk the marinade ingredients together in a bowl. Pour the marinade into the bag and let it sit overnight in the fridge. Turn the bag a few times over the next 24hrs to make sure the tips and the ends get equal access to the liquid goodness. When you're ready, heat the grill to medium and grill for about 5 minutes, turning to make sure they don't burn. I use a grill basket and tongs. Now... I hate asparagus, but I love this recipe.

That sounds really good. Another trick for those who don't enjoy veggies is to buy a steamer (the kind that fits right into a 2 qt sauce pan. Steam your asparagus, broccoli, beans, spinach etc and you will keep in most of the nutrients and flavor. It's quick and easy and works for all fresh and frozen veggies, fish, gyoza, shumai, etc. And if you don't own a wok, you are missing out on another great cooking style. For interesting Japanese recipes, check out "Cooking with dog" series on youtube.
What the hell is a "gyoza"? Mmm. Love steamed dog. Raccoon is good, as well.
Hey, Einstien: Type "gyoza" into Google on your new ipad. I kinda thought , with your oriental connections, that you would have enjoyed many of these delicious steamed or fried vegetable, shrimp, chicken or pork filled dumplings.
You couldn't just say pot stickers? lol
Have you ever been to PF Changs? They have an asparagus that is absolutely *yummy* ...reminds me of this recipe. I'll have to check it out. As a vegetarian it's always nice to find new vegetable recipes!
@Vixen I'll definitely try it next time I'm there. Add a little fresh ginger to this, as well.
