Message to Twitter Users

Dear Twitter Brethren,

Try to be more interesting, ok?  This isn't Facebook.  We don't know you or your friends. Keep the personal shit to a minimum (or via Direct Message).  Stop with Foursquare.  We don't care that you're at the grocery store (unless we're stalking you). We don't want to hear how much you love your significant other.  We don't want a play-by-play of your entire evening (e.g., "Going out tonight", "On the way to the bar", "Just arrived", "Having drinks") and use TwitLonger if you need to continue the thought vs. a series of consecutive tweets.  Oh... if you have a Tumblr site and just uploaded 10 images, please don't link to every single photo.

Be funny (@ConanOBrien, @shitmydadsays).  Be sexual (@TBK365, @darkgracie).  Be something other than an attention whore.  "Gee, Mr. Interesting Buddha Man... are you one to follow?"  God no... which is why only one person does and it was a deal he struck with the district attorney to avoid prison time.  I have a love/hate relationship with Twitter.  I think it's a great way to check traffic and news.  There are some cool cats, as well.  I just don't think that people are using it wisely.  Share links.  Share information.  Share your wonderful imagination.  Fuck someone's mind.  Change their outlook.  Be someone worth following.

Sincerely,
A Pretentious Jackass

Hear, hear!!!! I follow people who add value to my day. If someone makes me cringe or roll my eyes for a few days in a row, I unfollow them. Toss the rocks, keep the gems.

I have finally tamed Twitter. I have it by its balls. After using every known app (desktop and iPhone) - along with the site itself, I've settled on two solid ways to use it without losing my fucking mind. For the desktop, I use TweetDeck and have dedicated one of my "spaces" to it (Mac users will know what I'm talking about). TweetDeck is great if you have a big monitor and mine is big and thick. Huh? The monitor is 24". Hard. As for the iPhone, TweetDeck has way too much noise. Speaking of noise, that's my biggest issue with the damn thing - Twitter, that is. I don't want to see Foursquare updates. I don't want to keep reading negative posts from those who just like to whine. I don't want to get caught up in someone's private conversation. Enter TweetAgora. It lets you mute certain followers, @replies (i.e. back/forth conversations), Foursquare updates and more. It's a wet dream and I just came. Check it out. Get your sanity back.

That is too funny, man. You must be glad I'm off of your Twitter. What can I say, I'm an American idiot. No one ever told me the Twitter Rules. I just don't know! In any case, forget twitter. I'm going to work on my blog. This post is pretty hilarious. Have fun with Twitter.

I just got a Mac computer and after that the e-mail address I posted was hacked. It was so hard trying to fix it because Mac's browser for hotmail is weak. I have never gotten hacked that badly when I had a PC. Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out this Mac. How come there's no Page Up/Page Down/Home button, etc?

*Going from a PC to a MAC is like learning a new language. I hope I learn fast because this is difficult and takes me so much time. It's a cool looking computer, that much I admit.

Why would you want to page up/page down? Just buy the magic mouse or magic trackpad and use the gesture technology - something that is far superior to hitting buttons. If you have a MacBook, the trackpad is built in. Gesture lets you use your fingers to motion up or down. You sound pretty impatient, though. From seeing everything that's open with Expose to creating 6+ desktops with Spaces to the easy (but powerful) scripts that Automator runs... the experience on a Mac is definitely more user-friendly - but, yes... it takes time to learn that world. If you can't wait, go get a PC. It would be a shame, though. You have the best computer on the market with an operating system that is all about making things simple (and Lion, the next OS, is just around the corner). Apple makes the hardware and the software; they own the entire ecosystem (translation: it's not going to break down on you like a PC would).

Look... Microsoft is doing some amazing things - especially with their Surface technology, but it's my opinion that Apple's OS is better. I use Windows/HP 8-5, then come home to Snow Leopard/Mac. It frustrates the shit out of when I'm at work and want to use Expose or Spaces - or be able to block out everything else on the desktop when I'm trying to write (like I can with Pages). If you ever want to edit videos, iMovie couldn't be easier - and it's twice as powerful as the Windows version (free, too).

PC to Mac is a new language, but it's the language you should have learned in the first place. As for your Hotmail account getting hacked... I doubt it has anything to do with browsers or operating systems. It probably has to do with you visiting a site and possibly clicking on something you shouldn't have, but why use Safari? Chrome and Firefox are infinitely superior. Huh. Maybe I should write a post about some tips/tricks.

Interesting comments. Purchasing Office 2008 for Mac and a wireless mouse has helped me with my MacBook Pro. A long time ago, I had the Mac iisi...I had already been a Pc user and I didn't get the hang of it. I took no computer classes in college - I instead took foreign language.
