Racing in the Street (Solo Piano Outtake)

Wow... this brings back memories.  I haven't heard this version in years.  I used to listen to it all the time.  Let me explain my fascination with Bruce bootlegs.  When I was in high school, I'd go to the local Hyatt where they'd have a music convention every year (translation: bootleggers would show up in force with stuff Bruce didn't want us to hear, but it didn't stop the fans from buying it).  This was back in the days of cassette tapes and VHS.  Man... I spent a fortune on Springsteen bootlegs.  I've seen countless concerts from the 70's and early 80's.

He made his name as a live performer and was insanely prolific.  Along with Dylan, he's the most bootlegged artist in history; it's a huge black market.  Whether it was a studio outtake, like this (outtakes are usually unfinished songs), or a live performance of an obscure song (or a different version of a released one), Springsteen was/is big business for these folks.

Anyway... this is clearly a track he's working on at the time, but still... so beautiful.
