The Art of Blowjob

Get the Flash Player to see this video.

Her name is Camille Crimson.  Prepare to be amazed.  For those of you who follow The Infinite Ache or Liquid Candy, you know that I like artistic porn.  I love the films of Andrew Blake and Erika Lust.  I've seen Camille before and was impressed, but I knew her then under a different name.  She has a new site, The Art of Blowjob, and it looks to be incredible.  She has a lot of sites, actually.  This is one interesting lady - much like my friend, The Beautiful Kind (to be profiled soon).  Two gorgeous, brilliant and deeply fascinating women.

She was kind enough to answer a few of my questions. I've included some teasers and clips, as well, so you can see just how special her videos are (the sex, obviously... but the overall effect - the lighting, the music, the tease).  Camille Crimson deserves your attention.  She's setting the standard for amateur porn and has definitely perfected the art of the blowjob.

Q: What's your take on the porn industry?  Have you seen anything that's impressed you?
The industry is a very mixed bag.  There is some pretty awful stuff that is just so formulaic and void of any redeeming aesthetic value, but there are some really amazing people these days who are reclaiming porn and injecting some much needed wit and beauty. People coming to mind are mostly in the queer genre: Madison Young, Courtney Trouble, Shine Louise Houston, Travis Matthews. I'm also a huge fan of John Cameron Mitchell's Shortbus

Q: Why blowjobs?  Have you thought of doing more?  Scratch that... blowjobs rock!
Blowjobs are very sensual.  They've always been something I've really enjoyed and that I'm really good at. Also, they are very dynamic looking on camera because the action is so clear and if you're good at them and shooting them well, they can be unbelievably erotic.  Besides, in terms of making porn, it's important to do something that other people want, too. Blowjobs are pretty much a universal favorite, but not many sites show them in a loving and beautiful light.  We're very special in that respect.

Q: Not to sound like a Cosmo article, but what are your turn-on's and turn-off's?
My boyfriend, of course!  I like dark hair and dark eyes and people who are smart and respect me.  And people who can relax about their sexuality and just have a good time!

Q: I read that you didn't care if others found out about your videos.  Why so comfortable?
The people in my life all already know about it.  It's my full-time job so it's not as if I have to hide it from an employer.  Plus, the work I do is really beautiful and I feel like making approachable, respectful porn is quite frankly a service to humanity.  This is the type of stuff that's going to make people see that it's okay for everyone to enjoy and celebrate their sexuality.

Q: You say that pornography isn't degrading to women.  Can you elaborate?
Well, some porn is.  It goes without saying that some pornographers don't respect women and put them in situations where they're not in control of their sexuality.  But not ALL porn is like that and most of the porn in the world is populated by pornstars who want to be in the industry and enjoy what they're doing.  Even more than that, non-mainstream pornography is populated by really smart people who love sex, think critically about porn, always get consent and display sexuality as an empowering thing for everyone.  The pornographers who are moving away from traditional porn are very engaged with feminism and are using women on screen in a way that is approachable and relatable for other women.  By seeing other women exploring their sexuality in realistic ways, even a more reserved woman would think it's possible for her to do that too.

Q: Why do you think some people are so ashamed of sex?  Is it any better in Canada?
Our society is too puritanical and I think a lot of that has to do with the weird religious climate we find ourselves in, which simultaneously desires and demonizes sex.  Sex is everywhere and it's engrained in our desires, but we get conflicting messages about whether or not those desires are appropriate.  This leads to a need to be secretive and to feel guilt.  I think it's better in Canada, or at least in Montreal, because there is less conservative religious influence and we're generally seen as progressive, even though our current Prime Minister is not.

Q: I see that you love Guinness and Apple products.  Could you be any cooler?
No.  I don't think I could.

Q: Who chooses the music for your clips?  What song is your favorite?
I do, along with my boyfriend.  I think my favourite song that we've used is probably "Ophelia's Song" by Musetta.

Q: What do you wish that people knew about you that they don't?
I guess people should know that just because someone does porn doesn't mean they're dumb or that you automatically get to write really inappropriate messages soliciting them.  And if you do, don't include your phone number because it becomes very tempting to prank call you.

Q: What would you say to young women who are afraid to let go, sexually?
Honestly, watch some porn.  Look for the kinds of sexual expression that turn you on and those that turn you off.  Then take the stuff you like and try it with a partner and keep exploring and trying new things.  As long as things are safe and consensual, the sky's the limit.
