The Grammar Police

A co-worker recently told me that she'd like to have a blog, but she knows her English isn't that great and doesn't want to embarrass herself. Look... I was an English major. I understand compound sentences and punctuation 101. I know I'm supposed to always put periods inside of quotes if at the end of a sentence and that you don't end with a preposition. I know I'm supposed to do this and that and blah blah blah. Fuck it. I do what I want. I write as I think. I abuse compound sentences the most, in fact. I can't help it. I love ellipsis marks and I space how I see fit. It's also a visual thing. I prefer thoughts expressed as a single sentence. Sometimes I follow the rules and sometimes I don't. Maybe that's one of the reasons I respect E.E. Cummings so much; he whipped out his creativity and pissed all over the style guide.
Life isn't a classroom. Break the rules. Expose the world to your thoughts and opinions.
