Porn
A week ago, I said that I "hung out with porn stars." Now... I don't know that attending a memorial service qualifies as hanging, but they were there and I was there and there was a bit of mingling going on; by mingling, of course, I mean pulling out my cock and masturbating for a live audience. Ok, no. Someone asked me what I meant by it being a "surreal" experience. Simple. I'm a dorky guy from the suburbs; those were some cool cats. I was out of my league. Look... we know that I watch porn. I'm pretty sure that you watch porn, too. We all absorb it in some form. Maybe it's hardcore. Maybe it's Cinemax late at night. Maybe it's an erotic story on the Web. Doesn't matter; we all do it (all but the highly repressed, that is). It's another thing, though, to actually sit and rub elbows with Stagliano (head of Evil Angel) and crew.
Porn has come a long way. Some of its stars have crossed over into the mainstream. There are TV shows about swapping, reality shows featuring former sex tape "stars." Hell... Kendra landed on the cover of several family magazines... as if she were Gidget and not one of Hugh Hefner's sexy little playmates. That said, America is still terribly backward. Nude beaches are illegal. Apple won't allow any adult content into the App Store (sigh). Thing is... I don't know that we, the people, have the problem with sex. We seemed to be ok with Bill Clinton getting sucked off in the Oval Office. We can't get enough of Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and Tila and her bisexual romps. I suspect that only a small percentage of Americans truly have hangups.
I have a lot of respect for those who work in the sex industry - especially porn stars and escorts. I think it's pretty ballsy to come out and say "I fuck for a living" and not care how people react. Talk about being comfortable in your own skin. Sure... there are those who were abused and are chasing inner demons, but there are also growing numbers of folks who just don't give a damn. They enjoy sex. It pays well. Why not? If I could work in porn, I would. Not as an actor (trust me... no one wants to see my pasty body on screen). I'd love to direct, though. Maybe manage a site. When it's done right, porn can be incredibly artistic. Andrew Blake, David Aaron Clark, Michael Ninn, Erika Lust, Mario Salieri. Talent is talent.
