True Service
I went grocery shopping tonight. I always go to Gelson's because it appeals to the Virgo in me. They have the best prime-cut steaks and hard-to-find things like Tate's cookies and Harvest watermelon juice. I even reviewed them on Yelp awhile back. Anyway... I walked out to find that it was pouring down rain. I haven't seen it rain this hard in years. The cart guy was coming back in. I smiled and joked... "wonderful, huh?" As I stepped out, he stopped me. Umbrella in hand, he insisted on walking me to my car. He wouldn't take no for an answer. He took my cart and gave me the umbrella. It felt weird. It's like I went from being a hip young dude in my black Hugo Boss shirt and jeans to a senior citizen in the span of a minute. I tried to put it over him. He said he was already wet - to keep it on me. To top off this amazing customer service, he put the bags in the trunk and even held the umbrella over me as I got into my car. I drove away, shaking my head. I mean... who does that? His name was "Joe".
Yes... I'm writing his manager. I'm also checking out retirement homes tomorrow.

*laughs* You could take it that you looked like an important person and that is why he felt the need to help out like he did.
You know... I was thinking of playing it off that way, but I think he eyeballed a gray hair and thought "oh my GOD... there is no way this old man is going to make it to his car in one piece." I sigh. Oh, well. I found a good home for me, I think. "Shady Acres".
