Apple Acquires Lala

An interesting thing happened last week. Apple bought my favorite music service... Lala.com. I've been a Lala fan for awhile now. I backed up my entire iTunes library to their cloud; that's what they specialize in... the cloud. There's a little app that sits in my dock and each time I buy a song from iTunes, it updates the cloud. I can log in from any computer and listen to my music collection. I also use it to preview new music. You'll find a ton of Lala songs on this site, in fact. It's absolutely free. You can hear any song in its entirety once (good enough for me). I have been dying for the new iPhone app. I saw a preview of it awhile back and it looked awesome. It seems that Apple thought the same, so they bought the entire company. The rumor is that they want their engineers. When you take into effect that Apple just bought a HUGE server farm in North Carolina, it doesn't take an Apple genius to realize that iTunes will soon offer streaming music. They're going to move everything to the cloud. June, my guess.
Anyway... whether it's Apple or Lala, one thing is for sure... I'm going to be able to stream my entire iTunes library to my iPhone pretty soon; I can feel it. I may have to pay a monthly fee, but so be it. I just hope they don't stop me from being able to taste test new songs beyond the 30-second preview. It's been huge for me. I love both companies. Me happy.
